About Duke Cottage

Fully equipped to accommodate up to 4 people (a travel cot is also available), our detached and peaceful cottage has been newly refurbished and includes a bedroom (king size bed), living room (with small sofa-bed and dining area), kitchen (with oven, microwave, Nespresso, dishwasher, etc), bathroom and toilet, flat-screen TVs (with Netflix), free Wi-Fi and free parking. The cottage has a fenced garden with a patio where you can relax or have a BBQ.

Named in homage to the 4th Duke of Gordon, who founded the beautiful village of Fochabers, Duke Cottage is located 100 feet (30m) from the main square of the village, where you can find good food, supermarket, ATM, public transportation and even a bike repair station, if needed.

Fochabers village is an excellent starting point to explore the countryside with the car, bicycle or your boots! It has many bicycles and walking trails (such as the Speyside Way) and is perfectly located on the east bank of River Spey, with an easy access to A96, if you want to discover Moray’s countryside, to follow The Whisky Trail, to fish, to visit the city of Elgin or just to relax at the beaches of Lossiemouth.

Since Fochabers is located between Inverness and Aberdeen, it is a great starting point for day trips to both cities, by bus or car, as well as for day trips to Isle of Skye and Loch Ness.

The Story of Fochabers

Founded in 1776 by the 4th Duke of Gordon, Fochabers is a charming village on the east bank of River Spey, within the beautiful Morayshire. The village was built around a square dominated by a classical steepled church of 1798 (Bellie Church), with the largest collection of Pre-Raphaelite stained glass in Scotland. In addition to its rich musical and cultural history, the village congregates the Roman Catholic church St. Mary’s Fochabers, Gordon Castle, Fochabers Folk Museum & Heritage Centre and Baxters Highland Village Visitor Centre (the flagship of the family-run food company, since 1868, with a food hall and over 100 of Baxter products).
